When one investigates materials with light, it has been widely believed that the spatial resolution is limited by the wavelength. In this research, I will separate the wavelength that determines the resolution from the wavelength that probes the materials using x-ray nonlinear optical phenomena, and revise the common sense. The new technique will enable researchers to study the optical response at longer wavelengths (lower energies) with the angstrom resolution of x-rays.
