A novel field in optical science "Intracavity Phase-matched Nonlinear Optics" is pioneered in this project. A series of nonlinear and quantum optical phenomena induced in a dispersion-controlled high-finesse cavity are observed for the first time. This allows us to create devises for modulation of light based on coherent molecular motion and a novel light source "Molecular Modulated Mode-locked Laser" that emits an ultrafast optical pulse train at a repetition rate in excess of 10 THz.
